The NBSOIL Project presented the NBSOIL Academy at EUROSOIL 2025, highlighting its innovative training programme designed to equip soil advisors across Europe with the skills and tools needed to protect and restore soil health.
Representing the project, João Augusto Coblinski from IUNG (Poland) introduced the Academy during the 5th Stakeholder Forum: Innovative advancements and breakthroughs within the Mission Soil projects. His presentation, “NBSOIL Academy: Training soil advisors to promote soil health across Europe”, positioned the project at the heart of the European debate on sustainable soil management.
NBSOIL Academy EUROSOIL 2025
The Academy aims to bridge research, practice, and policy, while providing a platform for advisors to exchange knowledge, adopt digital tools, and engage with living labs and innovative business models. By presenting at EUROSOIL, NBSOIL not only promoted its training opportunities but also invited potential participants and collaborators to join the initiative.
Reflecting on the project’s presence, João remarked: “Presenting the NBSOIL Academy allowed us to connect with a wide community of soil scientists, policymakers, and practitioners. It was an excellent opportunity to show how the training programme can make a practical difference in advancing soil health across Europe.”
NBSOIL’s participation also strengthened its development at this stage by gathering valuable feedback on themes such as digital tools, living labs, and business models for soil advisory, which are central to the project’s methodology. Engaging with a wide range of experts and practitioners also helped validate the project’s direction and build a network of potential partners across Europe.
About EUROSOIL 2025
EUROSOIL 2025 took place from 8–12 September in Seville, Spain, and is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most important events in soil sciences. Organised by the European Confederation of Soil Science Societies (ECSSS), the international congress brought together scientists, policymakers, and practitioners to exchange knowledge, discuss policy priorities, and explore solutions for soil sustainability.
This year’s programme featured a wide range of themes, including soil biodiversity, sustainable land management, digital monitoring tools, and the links between soil, climate, and ecosystem services. The Stakeholder Forum, where NBSOIL presented, was a dedicated platform for EU Mission Soil projects to share innovations and breakthroughs, underlining the event’s role as a bridge between science, practice, and policy.
EUROSOIL continues to be a unique meeting point for advancing collaboration, fostering dialogue, and supporting the European mission to ensure that soils are healthy, productive, and resilient for generations to come.
