NBSOIL MOOC Launch

29 November 2023

Join the upcoming NBSOIL webinar which marks the launch of a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Nature-Based Solutions for Soil Management.

The MOOC aims to advance sustainable soil practices and bring nature-based solutions to the forefront, making it ideal for soil advice professionals, students, and enthusiasts. The MOOC online launch webinar agenda will focus on describing the NBSOIL Project and the Soil Mission, presenting existing resources for effective upskilling of soil health advisory services, sharing the MOOC contents, and presenting the NBSOIL advanced modules. The webinar will also include an exclusive preview of the next training phase – the advanced modules, ensuring participants gain in-depth expertise in sustainable soil management following the MOOC.

The NBSOIL MOOC is crafted as a comprehensive six-hour training program aimed at elevating soil literacy within the broader community. It seeks active participation from soil advisors, land managers, and various stakeholders, fostering discussions on soil health and the merits of an agroecological approach, with a focus on nature-based solutions (NBS). The massive online course will also serve as an introduction to the NBSOIL Academy, set to launch in 2024. This two-year blended learning program is designed to train and upskill the next generation of soil advisors.

The NBSOIL Academy will offer an immersive, interactive, flexible learning experience, training at least 300 soil advisors. Participants will delve into four advanced modules during the training: soil and NBS, soil health and living labs, digital tools, and decision-making. Additionally, participants will develop a final project. The course will be available in seven languages: English, Polish, German, Dutch, French, Italian, and Spanish.
